A Guide to Wood Science

Wood science is the study of wood as a material that is renewable and of biological origin. The processes and the tools used to utilize the material is what is known as wood technology. Other products are put alongside wood for easy testing and study. Materials properties, ease of it being worked on and its value are among the few properties which are compared against those of wood and other materials. The utilization of technology gives wood an upper hand in most of this comparison. Wood can be applied in very many applications, and this gives it an upper hand over other materials. Another wood treating method that is fast being accepted is the use of copper metal. The use of this method is fast being accepted because it is not corroding the metal fasteners. An alternative name to be given to this method is the micronized copper wood preservative method. A high-pressure liquid that has the copper metal mixed in it is driven into the wood. The difference between this method and the other copper-based methods is that the copper is used as a metal rather than a dissolved material. When this process is used to treat timber the timber properties are increased highly. The timber treated in this way is used in both outdoor and indoor frames that last very long.

The micronized copper preservative has proven to be highly effective in protecting the wood against fungal decay and termites. Unlike other methods of treatment this method is not corrosive. The wood treated using this method last longer and is stronger.
